Glenn Miller was a famous American musician who was born in 1904, in Clarinda, Iowa, and died in 1944.

He attended high school in Morgan, Colorado. In 1923 he started the classes at the University Of Colorado At Boulder. He eventually dropped out of school but kept attending auditions and playing at various bars.

He wrote the 'Moonlight Serenade', one of his most famous works while studying the Schilinger technique with Joseph Schilinger. He started working as a composer and trombonist for The Dorsey Brothers.

He formed his first band, years later, in 1937 and started working on many musical arrangements.

One year later, he moved to New York City and signed up with Bluebird Records and worked for the RCA Victor label. Him and his band performed at the Meadowbrook Ballroom, in Cedar grove, New Jersey and also at the Glen Island casino, from New Rochelle, New York. Almost 2000 people attended the show.

This was the turning point in which Glenn Miller started gaining more and more popularity. Most of the records that followed became great hits and sold huge numbers of copies: 'Tuxedo Junction' sold more than 100 000 copies in just one week.

He appeared at the Carnegie Hall, in 1939 along Benny Goodman, Fred Waring and Paul Whiteman.

Miller had the first Gold record in 1942, with 'Chattanooga Choo-Choo'. Along with his band members, he appeared in the films 'Sun Valley Serenade', 'Orchestra Wives' and 'The Glenn Miller Story'.

Louis Armstrong became a fan of the musician, as he used to carry his songs, throughout the times when he went on tour. He influenced George Shearing, a jazz pianist. He was also admired by Frank Sinatra and Mel Torme, the clarinetist Buddy DeFranco and many others.

Three of Miller's recordings were inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame. This includes: 'Moonlight Serenade', from 1939, 'In The Mood', from 1983 and 'Chattanooga Choo-Choo' from 1941.
